February 27th, 2018 from 6:30PM until 8:30PM
Following the success of the Elect More Women Conference in Autumn, the Status of Women Committee with YWCA Hamilton will host a series of workshops curated to continue the conversation. These are non-partisan workshops designed to speak to women who are considering seeking office and/or want to support a woman candidate running for office. 2018 is a double election year. It’s time to get organized.
The first workshop is Campaign Organizing 101, run by Nrinder Nann
Nrinder is a certified holistic nutritionist with 20 years experience as an educator, community organizer and leadership coach. She cut her activism teeth in anti-racism work in the Interior of BC, where she grew up and has worked in New York City as the Director of Education for the largest union in North America, and managed Community Development for the City of Toronto – all before the age of 35.
Nrinder has supported the leadership development of hundreds of BIPOC folks and proudly managed the successful electoral campaign of Councillor Matthew Green.
About Campaign Organizing 101:
“We can get there faster if we all move together” is a lyric in one of my favourite songs themed around achieving change. That said, figuring out how to build unity in purpose and how to get people to commit to act takes practice. Join us for a 2 hour workshop full of versatile best practices from running for elected office, to mobilizing support for issues-based campaigns.
Refreshments available at each event, and a pay what you can jar to help cover costs associated.
