Newcomer Settlement Program (NSP)

This program serves refugee claimants, convention refugees, permanent residents, and citizens. It offers the following services:

One-to-one settlement support including but not limited to:

  • Immigration processes
  • Referrals to available housing supports
  • Form completion 
  • Income support referrals
  • Information and referrals to community agencies
  • Information about community services such as schools and healthcare

Bridging Programs

Bridging to Employment programs provide Internationally Trained Individuals with the opportunity to upgrade skills to meet requirements for the labour market in Canada.

YWCA Hamilton presently offers the following two programs;
• Bridging to Information Communication Technology (ICT)
• Bridging to Environment

Individuals receive assistance in:

  • Understanding workplace culture
  • Learning about employer expectations
  • Gain access to supportive employment tools
  • Training, academic upgrading, and placement
