Fitness Membership:

FITpass: The all-inclusive FITpass provides access to a full range of energizing classes (Pilates, Yoga, Barre, Zumba are all included speciality classes), facilities and equipment available at the YWCA Hamilton. Health & Wellness staff will design an individual program to assist in achieving individual wellness goals. The FITpass includes unlimited use of YWCA's full fitness and pool facilities and all fitness classes and all swim classes for adults.We also have a no hassle cancellation policy. AQUApass: For individuals who have passion for the pool, the AQUApass provides a full range of dynamic aquatic workouts and programs. The AQUApass includes unlimited use of the YWCA's pool facilities as well as all Adult Group Swimming Lessons, Aquafitness, Length Swims, Master Swim Program and Open Swims.

AQUApass Fee (+HST):
Adult $32/month
Senior (60+) $28/month

Health Pass: The Health Pass membership consists of specialized programs for individuals with Heart Disease, Diabetes, Osteoporosis, and women recovering from Breast Cancer. This membership begins with a Wellness Consultation to develop a customized fitness program best suited for an individual's health & wellness needs.

Living Well Program: Individuals with a limited income may be elgible for the Living Well Program this includes individuals receiving social assistance.

Individuals that meet the financial criteria access both the Fitness Centre and the Pool through the all-inclusive FITpass. To apply for the program, pick up a Living Well package from the Front Desk, complete all applicable forms and resubmit with an income statement attached. Further details of the program will be discussed with each individual that has met the criteria.

Personal Training

The benefits of personal training include an increase in motivation, exercise adherence and of course, RESULTS. Personal trainers will work to design an individual workout plan based on fitness goals, current fitness level and current life schedule.

YWCA FITPass members: $45 per session, plus HST
Semi-private session (2 clients & 1 Trainer): $75 per session, plus HST

Note, 1 session equals 1 hour.

Specialized Health and Wellness Programs

Woman Alive! is a FREE for members ($30.00 for non-members) 10-week physical activity program for women with limited incomes. The program consists of two one-hour sessions per week (one group fitness and one aqua fitness). To register, please call Rana Aldibs at (905) 522-9922 ext. 180

Heart Beat (The GYM Facility): Designed for individuals who have experienced a heart-related condition, Heart Beat is a proactive approach to managing your health and wellness through two 90 minute group physical activity training sessions per week. ywcaencore: A FREE exercise program designed for women who have experienced breast cancer, mastectomy, lumpectomy or breast reconstruction surgery at any time in their lives. Based around floor and pool exercises and relaxation techniques, ywcaencore is safe, fun, and therapeutic. ywcaencore can help women:

  • Improve mobility and flexibility in the arms and shoulders
  • Improve strength in the upper body
  • Boost self esteem and self image
  • Relieve some of the discomforts associated with surgery
  • Develop a positive attitude towards health and life

ywcaencore is more than an exercise program. It is a supportive environment where women are able to share their experiences, concerns, and feelings with other women who will understand.

Pilates Beyond Breast Cancer: Pilates Beyond Breast Cancer is designed to build stamina, improve posture, increase shoulder range of motion, regain function and release neck tension. Join Certified Body Harmonics® Pilates instructor Anne Marie Collingwood to restore your foundation of strength, mobility and balance as you experience  The Art of Contrology (Joseph Pilates)

Aqua Motion Beyond Breast Cancer: NEW POOL CLASS
Take your movement and mobility to the water. Strengthen your upper and lower body while using the resistance of the water. This gentle on your body workout will leave you feeling refreshed and tired all at the same time.
Cost: $67+HST, free for Fitpass & Health pass members

Baby Boot Camp: is a work-out series for mom and babies aged six weeks to two years old. For all fitness levels, Baby Boot Camp combines a variety of exercises that will target your muscles, blast your core, and boost your energy. Connect with your body, baby, and other moms. This is a registered program $30 for non-members and 50% off for members for a 10 week class.

Please note that no child care is provided for children not participating in the class.

Bones Plus (Sir Winston Churchill location): Designed for individuals who have, or at risk of, osteoporosis, BONES PLUS is a group weight training class focusing on specific exercises to strengthen the hip and spine. Includes two 90 minute group training sessions per week. Tuesday 9:00-10:30am and Thursday 1:00-2:30pm

South Asian Punjabi Program (SAPP Fit):
A FREE exercise & health education program in Punjabi for South Asian Seniors. Seniors benefit from group fitness, presentations from health specialists and social time. Children’s Aquatics

At YWCA Hamilton, we have a history of helping children along the pathway of healthy development. Participating in physical activity stimulates the body and the mind. It plays a role in helping children build strength and coordination, improve physical fitness, manage a healthy body weight, and even enhances concentration and self esteem. Red Cross Swim Preschool (3m to 5 years):

Starfish: 4 – 12 months, parent/guardian participation is required    

Duck: 12 – 24 months, parent/guardian participation is required.   

Sea Turtle: 2 – 3 years, parent/guardian participation is required.   

Sea Otter: 3 - 5 years, Entry level for preschool children. First Level without parent participation required. 

Salamander: 3-5yrs, 5th preschool level. Children will learn to float without assistants and submersion is mastered.   

Sunfish: 3-5yrs, 6th preschool level. Children will learn to swim a short distance unassisted and venture into deeper water.   

Crocodile: 3-5yrd, 7th preschool level. Children start to develop endurance and work of stroke correction.

Whale: 3-5yrs, 8th and final preschool level.


Red Cross Swim Kids: Children 6 years+ :

Level 1: 30 minute class

Red Cross EMERGENCY FIRST AID COURSE: Includes CPR-B and use of AED. EFA is for people who want a general knowledge of first aid principles and the emergency treatment of injuries. Skills include: victim assessment, CPR, choking, heart attack, stroke and external bleeding.

Red Cross STANDARD FIRST AID COURSE: Includes CPR-C and used of AED. SFA provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid and CPR. SFA incorporates all of the Emergency First Aid and is designed for those who require a more in-depth understanding of first aid.

WaterSafety Instructor Transfer Course: This course is for Individuals who have Instructor qualifications through YMCA, LSSC or equivalent and need Red Cross Water Safety Instructors qualification. One year experience teaching swimming lessons with a different qualification is required to take this course. Splashback is for individuals whose certification has been expired for more than 5 years and are wanting to re-certified. Regsitration is required 2 weeks prior to course date.

NLS Recertification: Every 2 years individuals must re-certify for the NLS qualifications by attending a recertification training. TO qualify, individuals require a current Standard First Aid (SFA) certification before the NLS is completed. SFA is not completed in this training session.

NLS Course: Prerequisites for this course are 16yrs +, Bronze Cross (Bronze cross award need not be current), current Standard First Aid. The course is held over 5 Sunday's. 100% participation and attendance is required. Learn the skills and knowledge required to lifeguard in a pool setting. Advance registration is required for this course.

Bronze Medallion & Emergency First Aid: Prerequisites for this course are completion of Bronze Star or above 13 years of age. This is the 2nd Bronze level toward achieving Lifeguarding award. Particiapants will complete land and pool portions in this course with a pool exam at the end of course.

Swim Patrol: Children under the age of 12 who completed all 10 levels of the Red Cross Swim Kids program can take this next step. There are 3 levels to progress through and each level has 3 prerequisites to complete.
Rookie (Level 1), Ranger (level 2), Star (level 3): Each level must complete 3 areas ( First Aid, H2O Proficiency & Rescue) in order to receive the seals and badge.

BRONZE STAR: Children 12 years old who have completed Red Cross Swim Kids or Swim Patrol are ready for the challenge of BRONZE STAR! Bronze Star is the first of 3 Bronze levels.

WSI-RED CROSS Water Safety Instructors  Individuals must be 16 years of age and complete Level 10 Red Cross Swim or Swimmer 6 LSSC program. This is the first step to becoming a Red Cross swimming instructor. Volunteer teaching experience hours are mandatory in this course and will be above and beyond the course time allotted. 100% participation and attendance are required. There is 4 steps to completed this certification: 1. attend and get signed off on all your water skills and strokes and attend your in class portion to continue on. 2. Complete your on-line course and assignments. 3. Complete your 8 Teaching experience hours in Red Cross swim facility. 4. Attend your final in class/ pool  portion. Steps 1,2 &3 must be completed before you can attend step #4 the final day.
