YWCA Hamilton is a member associate of YWCA Canada. YWCA Canada is Canada’s oldest and largest, women’s multi-service organization operating in 400 districts and communities across the country. YWCA Canada is the largest provider of shelter to women, providing service to 25,000 women, children and teen girls including 6,000 who flee domestic violence every year.
YWCA Hamilton has served as a meeting place, learning centre, fitness centre and home to women and girls in Hamilton for over 124 years. We function within a well developed system and have a proven track record of successful management of all core organizational areas: governance; financial/administrative management, program/service development; implementation, monitoring and evaluation, accountability/reporting; partnership building and best practice sharing.
YWCA Hamilton is a United Way member agency and derives our funding from a variety of sources, including government, private foundations, corporations and individual donors. This funding provides for the management and building costs associated with operating the organization. Over 7,000 individual visits are made to the YWCA Hamilton every year and we are committed to providing housing, support, skills training and advocacy to women and girls.
We continue to work to animate the organization and support social, artistic, cultural and recreational and employment community initiatives that foster and contribute directly to creating and maintaining a vibrant, healthy and welcoming community.
