Find your future in the skilled trades! YWCA Hamilton is pleased to offer Pre-Apprenticeship programs for Women in Trades. These programs are offered at no-cost, and provide participants with technical training and job coaching to start their career in the skilled trades.
Automotive Service Technician Program
Conestoga College (Brantford Campus)
Program Description
Learn how to find and fix vehicle problems, and keep them running safely through regular maintenance and repairs.
30–32 weeks of in-person training.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must:
- Be women or gender-diverse individuals aged 18 or older
- Live in Ontario and be legally entitled to work in Ontario
- Have completed Grade 12 or an equivalent level of education (proof of at least 16–18 high school credits required)
- Be able to travel to training and work sites

Auto Body & Collision Damage Repairer Program
Mohawk College (Stoney Creek)
Program Description
Basic, hands-on training in how to repair, restore, and refinish the outside and structure of vehicles.
26–28 weeks of in-person training.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must:
- Be women or gender-diverse individuals aged 18 or older
- Live in Ontario and be legally entitled to work in Ontario
- Have completed Grade 10 or an equivalent level of education (proof of at least 16–18 high school credits required)
- Be able to travel to training and work sites

Program Description
Learn basic welding skills, how to read blueprints, check for quality, and put parts together for industrial work.
26–28 weeks of in-person training.
