Strategic Plan 2026-2029

Strengthen.
YWCA Hamilton will strengthen the foundations that support our impact by modernizing internal systems and structures, deepening collaboration, and embedding data-driven, evidence-informed decision-making. We will continue to build a culture of accountability, learning, and excellence, while advancing our Truth and Reconciliation Action Plan as ongoing, sustained work.
Invest.
We will invest in the people who make this work possible by prioritizing staff wellbeing, advancing anti-racism and anti-oppression, and expanding opportunities for professional growth and leadership. We will also invest in partnerships that strengthen community-based research, advocacy, and education to advance gender equity across systems and communities.
Focus.
We will focus our efforts where they create the greatest impact, our core work in housing, health equity, and economic advancement at critical life stages, while expanding strategically into Halton and Haldimand County. We will pursue sustainable financial strategies that support responsible growth and build innovative partnerships that respond to evolving community needs.
Across all three priorities, we will continue to work in partnership to advance broader systems of change - amplifying dialogue, influencing policy, and mobilizing action.
We have also changed our legal name. While we have operated as YWCA Hamilton in recent years, our legal name did not fully align. This change ensures that our name accurately represents who we are today and where we are going.
This Strategic Plan and name change reflect who we are today and who we are becoming: a community-rooted organization committed to advancing gender equity through meaningful, lasting change.
Thank you for being part of this work.
Medora Uppal
The need to advance gender equity,
strengthen systems of care, and build safer, more inclusive communities remains
urgent. This Strategic Plan reflects what we have heard and what we know to be
true: lasting change is possible when we focus on people, systems and our shared
purpose.
Our Strategic Plan for 2026-2029 is the result of consultations with staff, leaders, board and our champions in community.
We move forward in three strategic directions: Strengthen. Invest. Focus.
